We open our eyes. Another day.
Bright sun has risen again.
It shines on all of us.
We live daily under the sun.
One day, we will not be there,
Oblivious to the sun,
Which finds our hearts
In the forests, rivers, seas.
Month: January 2023
How Happy Are The Geese?
They circle the lake a couple of times
And land together on the edge of the
Lake and start foraging for food, anything
They can find
Their familiar honking call reverberates
Around the lake
I have never seen an unhappy goose
Searching
The grizzled old man walked
Into the shelter seeking a
Place to sleep for the night
Because it was freezing
He got a place and put his
Duffel bag next to him
If any of the other homeless
People knew he had one
Hundred thousand dollars
Tucked away in his vest a
Riot surely would have
Broken out
He talked to nobody
He looked as forlorn as
The rest of them
He was just trying to find
His family and lost to a
Horrible disease at the same
Time
It Won’t Kill You
Pain
Comes
And
Pain
Goes
But
Survival
Is
Here
Forever
Out of the Blue
I do not know why it happens,
But out of the blue
Life slaps me in the face
With a wet tamale,
And it all comes back to me
Even your look
Time
It has been said that
Time moves slower the
Farther you travel toward
The edge of the universe
And bends back upon itself
Meaning all that has ever been
Will repeat endlessly
If there is a place where the
start and stop meet, a timeless
Condition, where husband and
Wife embrace in an endless kiss
Behind the Scenes
Lots of things go on behind
The scenes that never get
Noticed
A mother taking care of her
Newborn baby, a nurse caring
For an elderly patient who is
Unable to do anything on
Their own, a teacher spending
Time tutoring a student, a minister
Comforting a troubled young couple
–these are the behind the scenes angels
Listen
Can you hear the planet
Rotating perilously through
Yet another hour?
Can you hear the universe
Expanding out in all
Directions, billions of years
Counting just as sure as the
Beating of your own heart
This is your own life
Do not waste it
Gone But Not Forgotten
We had her for a while but
Other places wanted her.
Her quality of care and
Compassion blessed us and
Will never be forgotten,
Not to mention her wonderful
Personality.
Dreamers
The moon poised in the sky
A velvet black blanket
Stars twinkle like gems
Unattainable except to
Dreamers who dare
Peel back the black
Blanket to see what is
On the other side
