Springtime

After a long winter
The season life loves
Arrives known as
Spring. Green sprouts
Pop up on bushes and
Trees, marigolds are
Everywhere. The
Natural world wakes
Up and all living
Things rejoice.

Charge!

Doesn’t that man
On the horse holding
The sword up in the
Air ever get tired of
Holding it up?

Weeping Willow

In the spring

This tree has

A thousand myriad

Branches, tender gold shoots

Softer than silk.

In this wild unpeopled field

Who does this willow belong to?

Winter

Spring is getting near,
But one of the cherished
Memories of winter is
When it would snow.
Looking out the window
And watching the white
Flakes drift slowly
To the ground was a
Calming, peaceful
Sight. Go out in the
Woods and experience
The utterly silent and
Holy worship in the
Cathedral of nature.

Trains

Late at night while lying
In bed I hear the plaintive
Sounds of train whistles
In the distance. They come
To railroad crossings and
Blow their horns or whistles,
Whatever you want to call
It. Lives have probably been
Saved by those loud jarring
Horns reminding people
Not to try to get across the
Tracks before the train gets
There.

Jumping Frogs

One day a friend of mine
And I decided to go fishing.
We packed our fishing
Gear and food to last most
Of the day. We began to
Fish from the bank when
We heard a rustling noise
In the brush around us.
Suddenly hundreds of
Jumping frogs as big
As cats came straight
For us. They looked
Carniverous, and had
Huge red sticky tongues.
We were so afraid that
We ran off and left our
Fishing gear.

Being Underwater

The world underwater is
A very different world
Than the world above
Water. If you’re in a lake or
The ocean you see a world
Of underwater life. You
Are nearly weightless,
Floating along with the
Fish. The only downside
Is that you have to come
Up for air.

Loss of a Pet

They were our friends and
Playful companions and
Were always loyal. Dogs
And cats were the most
Prevalent pets that had
These traits. But one
Day, or a period of time,
Our furry companion
Gets sick or gets an
Irreversible physical
Condition that can’t
Be fixed. Signs point
To time to say goodbye.

Rivers

Many towns started on a
River. As the town grew
It became a city which is
Where many of us live.
I don’t know what it is,
But the river holds an
Attraction for us that
Draws us to its banks
And be hypnotized
By its waves.
