Bubbles

On a sunny, spring
Day you might look
Outside and see
Groups of bubbles
Floating all around
The sky. They glisten
In rainbow colors in
The bright sunshine.
They are enjoyed by
Many, especially the
Children. Where
They come from is
A mystery.

Little Oriental Housekeeper

Emi comes in my room
Every day smiling, and
She always has a
Method for cleaning
That she follows. Emi
Moves to the next room
Until she is finished for
The day. The rooms
Always look spotless
After she is finished.
I’m glad to have Emi.
She is such a hard and
Reliable worker.

The Peacock

Out of nowhere a beautiful
Peacock showed up in our
Quiet little neighborhood.
It struts around with its
Rainbow of feathers all
Spread out. It has this call
That sounds like someone’s
Being murdered. It won’t
Let anybody near–it might
Chase them anyway.

My Love

My love wears
A caftan.
With her long
Hair and
Facial features
Suggesting an
Exotic
Lineage,
She draws
Looks from
Others
As well
As me.

The Sea

I love the sea at night.

It is darkness transformed

Into into a mysterious liquid.

The moonlight sparkles

On the waves and is hypnotic

To look at. It occurs to a

Person that the sea is where

We came from.

Flying

One afternoon I was
Sitting in my house
Flipping channels on
On the TV, bored and
Wondering what else
There could be to life.
Then a force pulled
Me from my chair
And out the front
Door. I stood in the
Middle of the yard
And rose up slowly,
Over the tops of the
Houses and found I
Could go anywhere
I wanted to go–
Freedom!

Car of Idiots

Every once in a while you
See them out on the streets.
The car is packed full of
People with goofball looks.
They hang their legs out of
The car windows and cruise
Around and around singing
Off-key songs to blaring
Music. It’s been said they
May have come from
Another planet–of Goofs.

Cathedral

Sitting in the center of
The city stands the
Towering cathedral,
A source of faith and
Worship for followers
From all over the city.
It could be a finger
Pointing straight to
Heaven.

One Of Those Days

Let’s take a break today.

The Well

When we were teenagers
It was a custom to go to
Some abandoned property
Where there was a well.
We would drop a coin in
And make a wish. The
Funny thing was you
Wouldn’t hear the coin
Hit the bottom. Once
Someone thought they
Heard a voice deep
Down in the well
Saying help me, help
Me. A professional at
Rescuing people in
These situations threw
A rope over the side
And went down. He
Was never seen again.
