Everyone has a mother. They
Brought us up, with or without
A father. They took care of us,
Served as an example. They
Tried and they were not perfect.
They had their flaws, but don’t
We all? In their own personal
Way they expressed their love
For us. There is no one like a
Mother. Happy Mother’s Day!
Unexpected
I don’t know why it happens,
But out of the blue
Life slaps me in the face
With a wet tamale,
And it all comes back to me,
Even your look.
Rain
Listening to the rain
Is relaxing on a quiet
Evening. It’s rhythmic
Drumming on the
Roof almost lulls a
Person into a deep
Dreamlike state.
Turn off the TV, lie
Back on the couch,
Close your eyes and
Listen to the rain.
Jogging in a Blizzard
A jogger who has jogged long
Enough won’t miss a day come
Hell or high water. Today we
Were having a blizzard. The
Snow was falling rapidly.
I decided to take up the
Challenge. After putting on
Double layers of sweat pants
And sweat shirts, a head
Covering and gloves, I stepped
Out of my toasty house.
There was no traffic that night,
So I jogged down the middle
Of the street, snow crunching
With each step.
White soft flakes filled the air,
Melting after hitting my warm
Face. It was a magical winter
Wonderland.
The Kiss
The kiss is the way of showing
Affection or love. There are
Different kinds of kisses, from a
Peck on the cheek to a lingering,
Passionate kiss by two people
Who love each other. It’s the
Universal sign of closeness.
Books
There was a little boy in
Grade school who was
Fat and shy so he asked
His teacher if he could
Spend his recesses in the
Library. The librarian
Befriended him. And he
Read all the books he
Wanted to while in the
Library. This led to a
Lifelong love of books.
The boy grew up to
Become a world famous
Poet.
New Friend
Most days I would sit on
My front porch and watch
The world go by. One day a
Stray dog came in the yard
And sniffed around and
Eventually came closer to me.
Timidly it came up on the
Front porch and approached
Me to be petted, I assumed.
But when it saw a black glove
I wore on my hand, it quickly
jumped off the porch.
Wanting to make friends with
The dog, I showed him me
Taking off the black glove
And he came back to the
Porch and let me pet him.
Hair
People fuss about my hair.
They say it’s to long, get a
Haircut. But I say I am a
Poet and I want too grow
My hair long. It’s part of
The image. The last thing
I want to look like is a
Fricking businessman.
Piano Player
It was during a piano playing
Contest that they came to
The last contestant to play.
He was a little boy, and the
Audience snickered when he
Sat down at the piano. He
Began to play, and after a
Few minutes the audience
Was in tears, because they
Had never heard anything
As heavenly and wonderful
As what the little boy played
That night.
Goodbye
Outdoors, a breeze makes
All the flowers look friendly.
White butterflies in a field
Are the tattered handkerchiefs
Of those who did not finish
Saying goodbye.
