Every cat needs attention
Even though they act
Standoffish. They will
Sit and stare at you for
Minutes at a time and
When you reach down
To pet them they swat
At you. But when they
Want something they’ll
Rub against your leg
And purr.

Our next door neighbor was a
Kindly elderly man who told
Us he was a retired magician.
He would gladly come over
When invited for dinner. And
He would amaze our youngest
Daughter with magic tricks.
One evening he told us this
May be the last time he
Would be able to make it
Over–he had an incurable
Disease and would soon
Perform the ultimate
Disappearing act.
