Once I had an opportunity
To ride in a Black Hawk
Helicopter for about two
Hours. I was strapped in
A seat next to an open
Door. The view was really
Spectacular. We were
Looking for equipment
Lost in trees by the troops.
I could have done this all
Day!
Look up in the sky and
You will see the contrail
Of a high-flying jet. It
Could be a military
Aircraft or a commercial
Airliner. They fly so high
You can’t hear them, and
The view from that high
Is breathtaking. Flying
Over the clouds is an
Experience that is
Unforgettable.
One afternoon I was
Sitting in my house
Flipping channels on
On the TV, bored and
Wondering what else
There could be to life.
Then a force pulled
Me from my chair
And out the front
Door. I stood in the
Middle of the yard
And rose up slowly,
Over the tops of the
Houses and found I
Could go anywhere
I wanted to go–
Freedom!
Feel the cool breeze on
Your neck on a brisk
Spring day. Watch the
Trees wave at you when
You take a walk. Birds
Ride the the breeze and
Watch us from high up.
You wish you could fly.
One evening I was walking
Around our front yard kicking
At the leaves and feeling sorry
For myself because of some
Recent flops in my life.
Then I remembered a childhood
Dream. I always wanted to fly,
To fly away from my troubles.
I walked out in the middle of
The street, looked around me,
Looked up, and slowly, gently
My feet left the ground.
I realized I controlled the whole
Thing with my will and shot up
And flew in broad circles around
The city looking down at it in a
Whole new way. I was free.
Throughout the day
Helicopters fly
Overhead
Some sound like
They are flying
Low
They beat the air
And are gone
Where are they
From and where
Are they going?
It is a mystery.
As soon as we are hatched out
Of our eggs and leave the nest
We get our wings and learn
How to fly
First we take short trips that
Scare us and tire us
But our curiosity and desire
To see what is out there
Urges us to soar to the heights
And look down at the world
We live in
One morning a little boy
Was playing in his front
Yard and decided to wander
Around through his mother’s
Rose bushes
A little person with wings
Flew in front of him and
Was joined by a few other
Of the tiny fairies
They did not seem to be
Afraid of him and he was not
Afraid of them watching them
Gracefully fly among the roses
Birds flying in a whirlwind
Circle over my head
Ascending higher and higher
Boring a hole in the sky
To let down the
Blessings
