The Wind

It was a quiet evening at
Home. The parents were
Watching TV and the kids
Were in their rooms doing
Homework or playing video
Games. Out of nowhere, a
Wind blew all through the
House moving curtains and
Knocking over pictures. A
Deep voice said–I’m all right.

Wish

This is my one true wish,
As I know and understand,
This light to be my home,
As a knowing up there in
The galaxy is me. And I am
Up there in my bones
Built from stars.

King

A king knocked at our door
One day and introduced
Himself as king so-and-so.
He said I’ve got a slight
problem–I’m lost. I don’t
Know where my kingdom
Is. We did not know how
To help him so we gave
Him a map and some food
And sent him on his way.

Flying

One afternoon I was
Sitting in my house
Flipping channels on
On the TV, bored and
Wondering what else
There could be to life.
Then a force pulled
Me from my chair
And out the front
Door. I stood in the
Middle of the yard
And rose up slowly,
Over the tops of the
Houses and found I
Could go anywhere
I wanted to go–
Freedom!

The Well

When we were teenagers
It was a custom to go to
Some abandoned property
Where there was a well.
We would drop a coin in
And make a wish. The
Funny thing was you
Wouldn’t hear the coin
Hit the bottom. Once
Someone thought they
Heard a voice deep
Down in the well
Saying help me, help
Me. A professional at
Rescuing people in
These situations threw
A rope over the side
And went down. He
Was never seen again.

Mansions

Old Victorian mansions are
Awe-inspiring and a monument
To a period of time when
Artisans took pride in their
Workmanship. No power
Tools, every tool was human
Powered. Touring a mansion
Is like going back in time,
When society was cultured
And genteel and produced
Some amazing architecture.

Journey

I’ve been to a lot of different
Places, I’ve roamed the world,
Lived in different countries and
Been to every state in our country.
I haven’t been home for a long
Time, but I feel something
Pulling me back and that
Something is you.
