It was during a piano playing
Contest that they came to
The last contestant to play.
He was a little boy, and the
Audience snickered when he
Sat down at the piano. He
Began to play, and after a
Few minutes the audience
Was in tears, because they
Had never heard anything
As heavenly and wonderful
As what the little boy played
That night.
Outdoors, a breeze makes
All the flowers look friendly.
White butterflies in a field
Are the tattered handkerchiefs
Of those who did not finish
Saying goodbye.
He comes to our house
Begging for handouts
Almost daily. Bandit’s
Favorite foods are
Chicken hot dogs and
Purple grapes. He’s
Been coming to our
House for about two
Years. I don’t know
What the lifespan is
Of a wild raccoon. We
Hope Bandit will be
around for a long,
Long time.
When you wake up and
Look out the window
And see the sunrise, it
Makes your heart swell
With eagerness to get
Started on the day.
Sunrises explode with
Beautiful colors that
Stay in the mind all
Day long.
Institute of Emotional Stress, or IES
Is located in a multistory building
Downtown. It is rumoured that their
Treatments were unorthodox to say
The least. Walking by the building
You would always see, on any given
Day, patients being thrown out of
The windows. This is how the
therapists got rid of their stress.
The hummingbird hovers over
Flowers darting in and out
Of blossoms sipping nectar,
So small and fragile. Where
They go at night is anybody’s
Guess. They cluster together
In trees for warmth, maybe.
You take me away to bliss
You drive me wild you
Turn my heart to mush
With just one touch. You’re
My love, my joy, my
Soulmate who I love with
All my heart.
It is one of the most exciting
Sports there is. You hook
Yourself into a harness and
Attach a rope which is fixed
Securely to an anchor and
Start at an unhurried speed
Over the side of the cliff,
Playing out the line slowly.
Some rappellers get their
Thrills by going over the
Sides of tall buildings.
If I could make someone
Else feel seen, feel safe
For a brief moment, feel
A little less alone, I would
Have accomplished my
Goal as a poet.
Some things are easy to
Accomplish, some require
A huge amount of effort. It
Puts a strain on anybody’s
Resources to get a hard job
Done. The key to succeeding
To anything hard is something
Called perseverance. It will
Get the job done.
