Back in our younger
Days we all enjoyed
Going to the drive-in.
Several of us crammed
In a car eating popcorn
And enjoying soft
Drinks snuck in. The
Movies were weird
But we barely noticed
Because we enjoyed
Each other’s company
More.

Americans are always ready
To get on the highway and
Take a road trip. Going to
A different place every
Summer is something
Families always look
Forward to. Hook up a
Travel trailer and camp
Out in a new place every
Evening. These are
Vacation times to
Remember.
Wake Up!
Here we are on this planet
To live and look around
The corner at what might
Jump out at us. This is the
Adventure we live for.
We are the most awake
When we welcome it all.
Breeze
Feel the cool breeze on
Your neck on a brisk
Spring day. Watch the
Trees wave at you when
You take a walk. Birds
Ride the the breeze and
Watch us from high up.
You wish you could fly.
Together in Heaven
We’re together here on earth
But we don’t know how many
Days any of us have left. The
Idea is to spend our time in
Harmony and doing things
Together. But the hammer
Falls: God takes both of us.
We are finally together in
Heaven.
Thunderstorms
One of those days to
Stay in — brilliant bolts
Of lightning uncover
Everything. The thunder
Shakes God’s creatures
Large and small. To
Finish it off come the
Torrential rains washing
Away the evil.
Jasmine
Garden beds of jasmine
Are a beautiful sight to
See year round. The
Sturdy tropical plant
Comes in many colors
And is a great addition
To a walking garden.
Nothing calms the soul
Better than a walk in
A garden of fragrant
Jasmine flowers.
Dependence
Even though there are
Separate objects and
Separate people in
The world, the idea
Of separateness is
An illusion. Every
Thing and everybody
Is connected in a web
Of mutual relatedness
That leaves nobody
Out in the cold. And
The world is an
Interdependent cosmic
Machine.
Flash in the Sky
It’s not often that a bright
Enough light in the sky in
The daytime catches your
Attention. But this one did.
It was like someone took a
Picture of the earth using
A flash camera that lit up
The world. Nobody knows
Where it came from or who
Did it. We can only hope
They like us.
Journal
Keeping a journal is a
Way of recording life’s
Occasions and moments
That you want to remember
And also your thoughts
And reflections on your
Life. It’s an activity you
Can’t stop doing.
