Exploring, it’s always a thrill to find an
Unlocked, deserted hospital building.
It’s eerie entering into rooms where
Patients have died–listening to the
Sounds of their last breath, making
My hair stand on end.

Pace
Dreams bring on their stories
At the pace of starlight
In twilight, sunless color.
Open Door
As you go through life
You come to many doors.
The doors lead to many
Different paths. Be sure
You take the right one.
Tough
She’s 98 years old and
Still with it. Frail but with
A smile on her face. Like
So many people her age,
She fell and broke her
Hip. After an hour and a
Half surgery, she made it
Just fine. And Mom’s still
With us, a tough cookie.
Only One
Let’s just make up our
Minds that we are happy.
We laugh, bottle up that
Black poison, throw it in
The river and draw cups
Of pure water. We are a
Family, our only one.
Rebirth
Seems like we are stuck in
A rut and will never get
Out of our dreary life. We
Think things will be the
Same forever. But one
Day a revelation hits us
Out of the blue that
Rebirth is possible for
Everyone.
Nightmare
I had a frightening nightmare
Last night that a black helicopter
Hovered over my house and men
In black rappelled down to the
Ground and disappeared.
Promise
I told you I would promise
You anything I could. So I
Decided to pluck the earth
Out of the sky to give to
You, plus a few extra stars
Because I love you.
Welcome
Where is Indian country?
Everywhere we stand.
Anywhere we dance.
It’s where the heart loves
The feel of our feet.
Welcome to Indian Country.
Now give us back our land!
Lived
Heaven and earth–
Is it so small a thing
To have enjoyed the sun,
To have lived joyfully in the spring,
To have loved, to have thought, to have done?
