Sometimes we all
Need help. We look
In all sorts of places
And talk to people
That we can trust.
But when you get
Right down to it, the
Foolproof source of
Help is from God–
Take it to the Lord
In prayer.
“Give all your worries and cares to God,
for he cares about you.” (1 Peter 5:7 NLT).
One night the earth and moon
Were having a talk. The earth
Asked the moon why he looked
So surprised. The moon replied,
If you saw what I saw you would
Be surprised too!
People gather. They
Eat, drink, play and
Laugh. They are
Happy among
Themselves. They
celebrate various
Occassions in love.
The way we talk about leaving,
Even as parts of us we uproot
Keep growing back underground.
Once rooted, always rooted.
Nobody looks forward to going
To the dentist. They are afraid
The dentist will find cavities
And have to numb their gums
And drill their tooth and hear
That high pitched drill that
Makes you grip the armrest
For dear life. After it’s over
Your jaw is so numb you can
Hardly talk. And you leave
The office thinking never
Again.
Most people have dirty little
Secrets that they hope no one
Ever finds out about. They can
Hear the rattling in the closet to
Remind them that they are still
There. That person constantly
Fears the skeletons will jump
Out of the closet and start
Talking.
An old aunt of mine used
To say let the sunshine in
With a smile on her face.
She made everyone happy
With her delightful attitude.
Smiles helped the sun shine.
Mom’s been around for
A long time. At 98 years
Young, she’s sharp as a
Tack, soft spoken. And
Mom is a little hard of
Hearing. Her love for
Her family and in-laws
Is real and returned
Back to Mom. It’s easy
To make her laugh.
And her gentle nature
Wins everyone over.
We want Mom to last
Forever.
Life has many experiences
Of many types good and
Bad. We will have to say
We roll with the punches
And we will survive. Life
Is too wonderful to let the
The bumps in the road
Stop us on our way to
Happiness,
When we were teenagers
It was a custom to go to
Some abandoned property
Where there was a well.
We would drop a coin in
And make a wish. The
Funny thing was you
Wouldn’t hear the coin
Hit the bottom. Once
Someone thought they
Heard a voice deep
Down in the well
Saying help me, help
Me. A professional at
Rescuing people in
These situations threw
A rope over the side
And went down. He
Was never seen again.
