A jogger who has jogged long
Enough won’t miss a day come
Hell or high water. Today we
Were having a blizzard. The
Snow was falling rapidly.
I decided to take up the
Challenge. After putting on
Double layers of sweat pants
And sweat shirts, a head
Covering and gloves, I stepped
Out of my toasty house.
There was no traffic that night,
So I jogged down the middle
Of the street, snow crunching
With each step.
White soft flakes filled the air,
Melting after hitting my warm
Face. It was a magical winter
Wonderland.

Goodbye
Outdoors, a breeze makes
All the flowers look friendly.
White butterflies in a field
Are the tattered handkerchiefs
Of those who did not finish
Saying goodbye.
Car of Idiots
Every once in a while you
See them out on the streets.
The car is packed full of
People with goofball looks.
They hang their legs out of
The car windows and cruise
Around and around singing
Off-key songs to blaring
Music. It’s been said they
May have come from
Another planet–of Goofs.
Rise to the Challenge
Hard times come to all of us
And we have different ways
Of dealing with them. Some
Of us just pretend the problem
Is not there but that just makes
It worse. Others of us are like
A knight on a white horse holding
Their lance up galloping toward
Their problem and defeating it
And winning the challenge.
Winter
Spring is getting near,
But one of the cherished
Memories of winter is
When it would snow.
Looking out the window
And watching the white
Flakes drift slowly
To the ground was a
Calming, peaceful
Sight. Go out in the
Woods and experience
The utterly silent and
Holy worship in the
Cathedral of nature.
